In the Name of God Amen I Katherine Muckleston of the Town of Shrewsbury and Parish of Saint Chad Widow being of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I recommend my Soul to Almighty God humbly hoping through his Mercies and the Merits and Mediation of Jesus Christ my Sins may be done away and my pardon Sealed in Heaven before I go hence My body I wou'd have Interr'd in Saint Chads Church in Shrewsbury as near as possible to my beloved Husband Mr. Joseph Muckleston and the manner of my Funeral to be as like his as possible, only, I wou'd be buried in Linnen and my Will is that my Just Debts Legacies and Funeral Expences may be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and if I don't at my decease leave ready Money enough I charge all my Houses in Shrewsbury with the payment of them but my Will is furthermore that my Houses Messuages and all appurtenances lying upon Saint Chads Hill and now in the holding of Robert Gray Richard Spindilow and John Caldwell or their Undertenants [to be] first sold for the payment of my Debts Legacies and Funeral Expences and I do give and devise the same to my [Executor]s hereinafter named and their Heirs to Sell all or [any] part for that purpose Also I give and devise unto my ---- Brother Isaac Hawkins of Burton upon Trent in [the] County of Stafford Esquire and to my respected Nephew William Jones of the Farm in the parish of Atcham and County of Salop Gentleman and their Heirs my House in [Milk] Street wherein I now Inhabit and dwell with the Garden and appurtenances thereunto belonging as also [my] House in Kiln Lane now in the Possession of Thomas ---- Taylor[?] To hold to the said Isaac Hawkins and William Jones their Heirs and Assigns upon the Trusts for the purposes following (that is to say) In Trust and for the use of my only daughter Katherine Griffith Wife of Samuel Griffith of Dinthill Esquire for her sole and seperate use not withstanding her Coverture and Independant of her [present] or any future Husband and my Will and Mind also [is that] the House which I now Inhabit with the Garden and appurtenances may be sett to a good and sufficient Tenant or may be Leased for the term of Samuel Griffith my Son in [Law's] Life and the Furniture may either be sett with the House [or] otherways disposed of as my Daughter and the Trustees shall think proper And my Will is that my said Brother Isaac Hawkins and Nephew William Jones do pay or cause to [be] paid unto my said Daughter Katherine Griffith the yearly [Rent] arising from the said House after the Taxes and Expences are Deducted and that her Receipt for the said Rent shall be a sufficient discharge to them notwithstanding her Coverture and that the said Premisses be not subject to any [deb?]ts of the said Samuel Griffiths And my Will is that he be [not] admitted to Rent or Inhabit the said House And further my Will and Mind is that if my said Daughter Katherine Griffith shou'd dye before her Husband the said Samuel Griffith then my Will is that the said House in Milk Street should be sold to the best bidder and the money arising from [the] sale thereof to be plac'd in the Funds in the names of my [Executors] hereinafter named and that they pay or cause to be [paid] unto my Sister in Law Mrs. Joanna Muckleston the Interest arising from such Sum to be paid half yearly as [they?] receive the Dividend during the term of her natural Life and after her Decease to be divided in equal Portions amongst [such] of my Nephews and Niece Jones's of the Farm as shall [still] be alive but if my said Daughter survive her said Husband Samuel Griffith then I give the said Premisses with [its?] appurtenances to her and her Heirs for ever Also I give and bequeath unto my Brother Isaac Hawkins and Nephew William Jones all my other Messuages Houses Lands and Tenements whatsoever situate lying and being in the Town of Shrewsbury aforesaid (except those above mention'd) In trust to be Sold and after my Debts Legacies and Funeral Expences are paid and the Overplus of the Money if there be any to my said Daughter Katherine Griffith for her sole and seperate use aforesaid I likewise give and bequeath unto the said Isaac Hawkins and William Jones my Leasehold Farm under the Earl of Uxbridge with all the Lands and Appurtenances thereunto belonging lying in Stretton in the parish of Burton upon Trent in the County of Stafford and now in the holding of Joseph Page In trust for the sole and seperate use of my said Daughter Katherine Griffith also I give to the said Isaac Hawkins and the said William Jones all my Mortgages Bonds Notes Plate Rings China Linnen (wearing Apparel excepted) all my Household Goods of all Denominations and every thing contain'd in the Cellars or the Garden upon the same Trust for my said Daughter to be Sold or kept as she and the Trustees think proper. I give to Samuel Griffith Esquire one Guinea. I leave to all my Brothers and Sisters Five pounds apiece I leave to my Nephew William Jones Five pounds for his Trouble I leave to my late Servant Samuel Morris Five pounds I leave to Mrs. Anne Bridge twenty Shillings a Year for her Life to be paid Quarterly I leave to every Servant living with me at the time of my death Five pounds each and if Mary Tunett be my Servant then I leave her all my wearing Apparel excepting any odd things shou'd be mention'd in a Note kept along with this my Will I leave to my Honoured and respected Friend Mrs. Ellen Wingfield of Milk Street five Guineas to buy her a Ring And I also leave it at the discretion of my Daughter if the Parish will fix and enter Mrs. Ellen Wingfield and my Daughter Katherine Griffith for their joint and seperate Lives in the Gallery Seat where I am now Entred then I leave to the parish of Saint Chad the Sum of Thirty pounds for the use of the Poor but if there be no Entry in the Seat in Favour of my Daughter and Mrs. Wingfield then I leave but Ten pounds to the Poor of the parish of Saint Chad And lastly I do and bequeath unto my said Brother Isaac Hawkins and my said Nephew William Jones all my real and personal Estate of what sort or kind soever that I shall be in Possession of or Intitled at the time of my decease In trust for the use of my said Daughter Katherine Griffith And I do appoint the said Isaac Hawkins and William Jones my true and lawful Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fourteenth day of January in the year of Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five. This Will was proved at London the seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty Six before the Right Worshipfull George Hay Doctor of Laws

house in Milk Street to be rented, rent for sole use of only daughter Katherine Griffith; property is hers if husband dies first; if she dies first it shall be sold and interest goes to sister in law Mrs Joanna Muckleston for life, then divided among Jones nephews and niece.

Residue to only daughter Katherine Griffith for her sole use.

Executors: brother Isaac Hawkins, Burton upon Trent, Staffs & nephew William Jones, the Farm, Atcham, Salop.
