The Will with a Codicil of William Muckleston late of Meole Brace otherwise Brace Meole near Shrewsbury in the county of Salop Gentleman who died 27th December 1887 at Meole Brace was proved at Shrewsbury by Sarah Muckleston of Meole Brace Widow the relict the surviving executor.

Transcript of the Will:-

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Muckleston of Meole Brace otherwise Brace Meole near Shrewsbury in the county of Salop Gentleman First I direct the payment of my just debts funeraland testamentary expenses as soon as convenient after my decease I give and bequeath my gold watch and its appendage unto my godson The Reverend William Jeffreys Muckleston son of my late brother Samuel Muckleston I give and bequeath all my household furniture plate books pictures glass money securities for money and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever (except the said watch and its appendage) unto my dear wife Sarah Muckleston for her own sole and separate use and benefit and I give and devise and by virtue of all powers in me vested appoint all my messuages tenements gardens lands hereditaments and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever situate (except vested in me as trustee or mortgagee) unto my said dear wife Sarah Muckleston for her life she keeping the same in tenantable repair and insured and from and after the decease of my said wife and subject to her life interest as aforesaid I give devise and appoint all that messuage or dwelling house and shop with the actual and reputed appurtenances thereto belonging situate on the Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury aforesaid and now in the occupation of James Vine Hosier And all that messuage or dwelling house with garden use of water and actual and reputed appurtenances thereto belonging situate at Meole Brace aforesaid and now in the occupation of Miss Julia Guise her under tenants or assigns And all that messuages or dwelling house with garden and actual appurtenances thereto belonging and usually enjoyed thereunto situate at Meole Brace aforesaid and now in my own occupation and now adjoining the above dwelling house and premises in the occupation of the said Miss Julia Guise unto my nephew The Reverend Henry John Burfield now Vicar of Saint Marks Church Leicester his heirs and assigns upon trust subject to the life interest of my wife Sarah Muckleston that he the said Henry John Burfield his heirs or assigns or other trustee or trustees for the time being of this my Will shall at such time and in such manner as he or they shall think fit sell the said messuages and dwelling houses gardens and premises now in occupation by the said parties aforesaid and stand possessed of the monies after payment of all expenses attending such sale In trust for all my nephews and nieces who are alive at my death share and share alike as follows to the children of my late sister Sarah Burfield to the children of my brother John Mucklestonto the children of my late brother Samuel Muckleston and my Will is that if any question should arise as to the boundary Walls or fences of the dwelling houses and premises at Meole Brace then to save litigation a competent architect or builder shall be called in by my Trustee or Trustees to decide any question or dispute and his decision shall be final and acted upon and I hereby declare that the well of spring water now used for the two houses at Meole Brace shall continue to be so used and any repairs needful from time to time shall be paid for equally by the proprietors for the time being for such houses And I hereby appoint my said wife Sarah Muckleston and the said Henry John Burfield Executrix and Executor of this my Will And I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds to my nephew Henry John Burfield in addition to hisown share with my other nephews and nieces for his trouble and expense in the execution of the trusts of this my Will and hereby revoke all other Wills and Testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd November one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight 1878

Signed sealed and declared by the said Testator William Muckleston as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto set our names as witnesses thereto Jno J Champion High Street Shrewsbury Bank Manager Fred R Champion High Street Shrewsbury Bank Clerk

This is a codicil to the last Will and Testament of me William Muckleston of Meole Brace otherwise Brace Meole near Shrewsbury in the county of Salop Gentleman which Will bears date the second day of November one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight Whereas by my said Will I have from and after the decease of my said wife and subject to her life interest therein given devised and appointed certain messuages and dwelling houses and shop in my said Will particually described situate on the Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury and at Meole Brace Shrewsbury unto my nephew the Reverend Henry John Burfield then Vicar of Saint Marks Church Leicester his heirs and assigns upon the trusts therein mentioned Now I do hereby revoke my said Will so far as regards the devise of the said premises to the said Henry John Burfield and all the trusts and directions contained in my said Will concerning the monies to be produced by the sale thereof but without revoking the devise of my real estate to my said wife for her life and in lieu thereof I give devise and appoint all and singular the said messuages or dwelling houses shop hereditaments and premises and all and singular other my real estate whatsoever and wheresoever from and after the decease of my said wife unto my niece Margaret Jane Place her heirs and assigns upon trust to sell the same and to stand possessed of the monies arising there form after payment thereout of all expenses attending such sale In trust in equal shares for such of my nephews and nieces following namely Margaret Laura Burfield and Elizabeth Burfield the two daughters of my late sister Sarah Burfield the said Margaret Jane Place and Elizabeth Wild the two daughters of my late brother Richard Jeffreys Muckleston Margaret Ladyman Fanny Muckleston Ellen Muckleston Jessie Muckleston Charlotte Emma Muckleston and Mary Legh Muckleston the six daughters of my late brother John Muckleston and John Shortt Muckleston William Jeffreys Muckleston Harriet Loucks Emily Muckleston and Annie Muckleston the two sons and three daughters of my late brother Samuel Muckleston as shall be living at my decease and the issue then living who being males or a male attain the age of twenty one years or being females or a female attain that age or marry of any such nephews or nieces dying in my lifetime leaving issue living at the time of my death and so that such issue shall take in all degrees according to their stocks and in equal shares the share or shares which their parent would have taken if living at the time aforesaid and so that no issue shall take whose parent is living at the time aforesaid and so capable of taking And I hereby also revoke the legacy of fifty pounds bequeathed by my said Will to the said Henry John Burfield And in all other respects I confirm my said Will In witness whereof I the said testator William Muckleston have to this Codicil to my last Will and Testament set my hand this eleventh day of May one thousand eight hundred and eighty three

Proved at Shrewsbury with one Codicil the 27th day of January 1888 by the oath of Sarah Muckleston Widow the relict the surviving executor to whom administration was granted
