Prescott near Shrewsbury

This is a codicil to my last will I give and bequeath to my faithful servant Sarah Thomas two hundred pounds of lawful money for her long and faithful service to me during health and sickness in addition to the sum of fifty pounds I have left herby my will - JOSEPH MUCKLESTON - dated this 18th day of October 1827

I the undersigned Joseph Muckleston of Prescott near Shrewsbury in the county of Salop Esquire do make and declare this to be a codicil to my last will and testament dated the thirty first day of March One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Four I give and bequeath to Jonathan Key of Hampstead in the county of Middlesex Esquire and Henry Key of Tulsehill Brixton in the county of Surrey his brother two hundred pounds each I give and bequeath to Plowden Presland of Kentish Town in the county of Middlesex Esquire five thousand pounds. I give and bequeath to Thomas Plowden Presland his son for his kind attention to me two thousand pounds I give and bequeath to my servant Sarah Thomas in addition to two other legacies one of fifty pounds and the other of two hundred pounds left her by me three hundred pounds stock in the four percent bank annuities part of the stock now standing in my name and I give and bequeath to my housekeeper Elizabeth Stacey fifty pounds the whole of the above legacies I hereby request to be paid within twelve months after my decease as witness my hand this eighth day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight this is the mark X of me the above named Joseph Muckleston witness the mark of the above named Joseph Muckleston. MARY MUCKLESTON

This is a true copy as taken out of the register of the parish of Oswestry, as witnesseth.

Top part is in Latin -?Standard form (One Penny Sheet) dated 5th December 1732.

The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Price Muckleston, natural and lawful son and also administrator of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of Mary Muckleston widow of the parish desired to make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits that the said deceased which hand or shall commit to the hands possession and knowledge of him the said Price Muckleston and into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same soon made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the registry of St Asaph at or before the last day of January next ensuing and the same goods, chattels and credits and all other goods chattels and credits of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Price Muckleston or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him. Too well and truly administer according to law and further to make or cause to be made a true and inst [document damaged here] of his ? at or before ye last day of December 1733 and all the rest and residue of the said goods, chattels and credits shall [edge of page damaged] remaining on the said administrators account the same being first [page damaged] allowed of by the judge or judges for the time being of the same court shall allow and pay unto such person or persons respectively as the said judge or judges by his or their decrees pursuant to the true intent and meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth and three and twentieth years of the reign of a late sovereign Lord King Charles the second [entitled an act for the better settling of intestate estates] shall limit and appoint and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the same into the said court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said Price Muckleston above bounden being thereunto required and hand it in the said court then the obligation to be void and of none effect or offer to remain in full in full force and routine.
