Arthur Mackleston, Head, Married, 30, Tin Plate Worker, born Shrewsbury Salop.

Charlotte Mackleston, Wife, Married, 29, born Manchester Lancs.

William Mackleston, Son, 6, bn Manchester Lancs

Alfred Mackleston, Son, 4, bn Manchester Lancs

Charlotte Mackleston, Daughter, 1, Bn Manchester Lancs.

The second brother was Arthur Preece Mackleston a Journeyman / Sheet Metal Worker. He was born 30th May 1871. On the 1881 census he is shown as a scholar aged 9. On the 1891 census he can be found in Manchester as the lodger of Jonas Bates and is using the name of Mackleston. Jonas Bates had a daughter Charlotte Jane whom Arthur went on to marry on December 25th 1891, he went on to have nine children with her, the first child being born in 1893. As Arthur was already using the name Mackleston prior to his marriage this relationship most likely had nothing to do with the estrangement.

Of Arthur's six sons four survived to adulthood and they also went on to have sons who established the name of Mackleston further. Although the number of female Mackleston's being born greatly outweighs the number of males, there are enough so that the name should continue for a few generations further.
