SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND CANTERBURY DISTRICT CHRISTCHURCH REGISTRY.

Issued from the District Duties Division and Revenue Department at Christchurch 10th October 1962.

In the estate of William Alfred Muckleston of 22 Churchill Street, Christchurch in the Dominion of New Zealand Retired Storeman Deceased.

Be it known to all men that on this 22nd day of August 1962 the last Will of William Alfred Muckleston of 22 churchill Street Christchurch in the Dominion of New Zealand Retired Storeman deceased who died on or about the11th day of August 1962 copy of which is hereunto annexed has been exhibited read and proved in chambers by Mr Registrar Gerken at Christchurch acting under rule 426H of the code of Civil Procedure and administration of the estate effects and credits of the deceased has been and is hereby granted to Gladys Feodora Muckleston widow and Clarence Vivian Quigley Solicitor both of Christchurch aforesaid the executors named in the said will being first sworn faithfully to execute the said will by paying the debts and legacies of the deceased so far as the property extends and the law binds and whenever ordered so to do to file in this court and verify by affidavit a true full and perfect inventory of all the estate effects and credits of the deceased which shall of come into their hands possession or knowledge and also a full distinct and proper account of their execution of the Will.

Given under the seal of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Christchurch this 22nd day of August 1962

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Alfred Muckleston of 22 Churchill Street Christchurch in the Dominion of New Zealand Retired Storeman

1. I revoke all former Wills

2. I appoint my wife Gladys Feodora Muckleston and Clarence Vivian Quigley Solicitor both of Christchurch to be the executors and Trustees of this my Will

3. I give devise and bequeath all my property both real and personal of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situate unto my said Trustees upon trust thereout to pay my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and to stand possessed of the clear residue thereof in trust for my said wife Gladys Feodora Muckleston absolutely

4. I declare that my Solicitor Trustee shall be the solicitor of my trust property and as such the said Clarence Vivian Quigley shall be allowed all professional and other charges for his time and trouble which if employed as a solicitor to my trustees not being himself a trustee he would be entitled to make

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 16th day of September one thousand nine hundred and forty six

From World War One Soldiers Documents

William Alfred Muckleston of 78 Palmerston Road, Walthmastow, aged 38 enlisted on 28th Sept 1916 at Exeter. His records show that he preferred to be known as Alfred. He joined the RASC (Royal Army Service Corps) and gave his occupation timekeeper with a former occupation of Commercial Traveller. He was at home from 28 Sep 1916 to 21 Oct 1916 probably training and then went straight to France where he remained until 7th November 1918. He then returned home until his discharge on 30th April 1919. On 19th September 1918 while still in France he went down with a bad case of Dysentry and was treated for this illness right up to his discharge. He was also found to be suffereing from chronic rheumatism and a note in his medical records records that at one point he was unable to walk without the aid of a stick. He was in the Military Hospital set up at the Weston General Hospital in Liverpool at the time of his discharge. It was recorded at this time that his disability was likely to last for at least a further 12 months.

The Principle Probate Registry

BE IT KNOWN that Robert Francis Muckleston of 3 Salisbury Road South Chingford in the county of Essex

died on the 4th day of February 1935 at St Bartholomews Hospital in the city of London

intestate a bachelor without parent

AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written Letters of Administration of all the Estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said intestate were granted by His Majesty's High Court of Justice at the Principle Probate Registry thereof to Charles Amos Muckleston of 9 Mildmey Road Stoke Newington in the county of Middlesex Decorator and Ada Louisa Perry of 78 Palmerston Road Walthamstow in the county of Essex wife of Henry William Perry the lawful brother and sister of the whole blood and two of the persons entitled to share in the estate of the said intestate

And it is hereby certified that an Inland Revenue affidavit has been delivered wherein it is shown that the gross value of the said estate in Great Britain (exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as trustee and not beneficially) amounts to £1112-0-9

and that the net value of the estate amounts to £1096-0-9

And it is further certified that it appears by a receipt signed by an Inland Revenue Officer on the said Affidavit that £33-1-4 on account of estate duty and interest on such duty has been paid
