This is Edward James Muckleston born 1858 in St Pancras, London, the second son of Thomas Muckleston, a solicitor's clerk and his first wife Anne (nee Lovejoy). He was a Barristers Clerk for most of his working life. He married Flora Elizabeth Powell in 1878. They left it a while before having children sadly their first born a son Edward born in 1894 died shortly after birth but they had a daughter Edith Ellen Frances born in 1898.

 

He probably retired to Hastings as it was there his wife died in 1935 followed by Edward himself on 5th September 1936, His will was a simple one. he left everything to his daughter.

Transcript of Will:-

I Edward James Muckleston of number 42 St Helens Road Hastings revoke all former wills heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will. I bequeath to my daughter Edith Ellen Frances Wrench of 29 Bryantwood Road Drayton Park London N7 all my furniture and articles of household use or ornament which at my death shall be in or about my dwelling house and I devise and bequeath all my real estate and the residue of my personal estate to my said daughter Edith Ellen Frances Wrench absolutely and I appoint her sole executrix of this my will In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of July one thousand nine hundred and thirty five.

 

Signed and delivered by Edward James Muckleston the testator as and for his last will in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
